The Lie We Were Taught About Vocation
The way you’ve been taught to arrive at your vocation is absolutely ludicrous.
Most people aren’t stuck because they lack ambition, intelligence, or discipline.
They’re stuck because the way we’re taught to arrive at our career, calling, contribution is fundamentally broken.
We’re told to:
“follow our passion”
pick the right identity early
push harder when it doesn’t fit
override our capacity to prove commitment
That model collapses under real life.
My work exists because that system doesn’t work.
The current paradigm of work is crumbling.
It fails the very people who are most capable.
I didn’t build this work from a clean, well-resourced chapter.
I built it while navigating:
metastatic cancer
ADHDraising a high-support autistic child as a single motheran extended, expensive custody battleextreme constraint on time, money, and capacity
And still, I had to choose what role I was stepping into next.Not “eventually.”
Not even “when things calm down.”
Now.
I used my own system to collapse dozens of possible paths into one role, let the rest go, and transition into a completely new arena — software development — while everything else demanded my attention.That choice created:

momentum without collapse
work that lights me up, serves others, and leaves a legacy
Heart Explosions exists because my life required a system that could hold reality, not fantasy bandwidth.
I kept facing the same question: “Is there a way to contribute to the world without sacrificing who I truly am in the process?”
You see, it wasn’t until I stumbled upon the Enneagram that the pieces of my true identity and genius began to click into place. I saw myself for the first time—not just the creative, the dreamer, or the achiever, but as someone deeply wired for understanding, innovation, and guiding others toward their truest selves.
This self-awareness led me to the formal study of psychology, scientific research, and purpose-building frameworks that revolutionized my life and connected me more deeply with the essence of who I am.
Being an Autism mom makes something undeniably clear.
Ability is not the issue.
Support design is.
Everyone has support needs.
Everyone has boundaries.
Everyone avoids demand and becomes overwhelmed when systems ignore reality.
